Please take time to familiarize yourself with the rules.  Visit USGA.org for frequently asked rules questions and view videos. Mobile apps can also be downloaded for iOS and Android devices. Specific questions can be directed to http://www.usga.org/rules-hub.html

USGA rules shall govern all play except where the following “Local Rules” apply.

1. RULES VERIFICATION —  Should a question arise while on the course, play the ball as it lies, drop another ball in accordance with whatever rule you think may apply.  Play both balls to completion of that hole.  Upon completion of the round, check with rules chairman for clarification before recording score.

2. LENGTH OF PLAY — Players must be able to complete their round of golf within 2 hours and 30 minutes.  Please do not hold up play.

3. Once the ball is on the green, all subsequent strokes count as putts until you hole out.

4. Abnormal conditions IN THE FAIRWAY: When occasional local abnormal conditions IN THE FAIRWAY might interfere with fair play, the affected parts of the FAIRWAY can be defined as ground under repair.  Adverse conditions such as heavy snows, spring thaws, prolonged rains or extreme heat can sometimes damage the course or prevent the use of heavy mowing equipment and if widespread, grounds crew cannot mark all impacted areas and player discretion is needed.  If a player’s ball lies IN THE FAIRWAY where poor conditions prevail, they can elect to play the ball as it lies or take relief without penalty.  First determine the nearest point of complete relief no closer to the hole where the abnormal course condition no longer interferes with your lie, stance or swing.  Mark that spot with a tee.  Then determine the area within one club length no closer to the hole, lift, clean and drop ball from knee height and play on.

5. Holes 4 and 13 have a drop zone for balls that enter the lake on the first or subsequent strokes - proceed to the Drop-zone Circle and take a one stroke penalty

6. Hole 12 also has a drop zone which can be used when you ball enters the lake on your second or subsequent stroke, proceed to the Drop-zone Circle and take a one stroke penalty

7. Lost Ball and out of bounds — Two options:

· Play a provisional ball if you are unsure as to whether your ball is lost outside of a penalty area or OB. Replay under stroke and distance*/ 1 stroke.

· When a player’s ball cannot be found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, player may take relief by dropping the original ball or a substituted ball in the relief area. 2 stroke penalty. See E-5 Alternative to stroke & distance.

8. If your ball lands on a sprinkler head or near a sprinkler head around the green, you are allowed to take free relief if the sprinkler head is within 2 club lengths from the green and your ball is lying within 2 club lengths from the sprinkler head

IF:

1.  You are putting and the sprinkler is on your line of play (to the hole)

2.  The sprinkler head interferes with your stance or swing.

Place your ball at the nearest point of relief where the interference (sprinkler head) is eliminated, not nearer to the hole. Go to https://www.coloradogolf.org/rules-videos-2/

*Stroke and distance—re-tee if played from teeing area, or drop (knee height) within one club length of original spot. The term stroke and distance means that the player gets both a one penalty stroke, and loses the benefit of any gain of distance towards the hole from the spot where the previous stroke was made.
